Macarons are bite sized soft cookies made with almonds, originating in France. They are also one of my favorite posh snacks. I know what you are thinking, what’s the big deal and how do macaroons differ from place to place. I do have to admit they do all look the same, but the taste differs greatly. Don’t worry, I have tested the best macaroon places in NYC and curated a list just for you. Get your taste buds ready for these bite sized pillows of joy.
Macaron Cafe
Macaron Cafe was the first place I ever tried a macaron. I visited their store in the garment district several times during my internships. They have seasonal flavors like pumpkin cinnamon but the white chocolate is my favorite. If you want some lunch before your dessert they sell authentic french soups and sandwiches as well. Go visit one of their 4 locations.
Dana’s Bakery
Dana’s Bakery is nestled inside of Gansevoort Market. What I love about them is that they specialize in some pretty different flavors from the classic flavors you would see macarons come in. Fruity Cereal is one of my favorites. You can also never go wrong with the s’mores.
Macaron Parlour
Macaron Parlour has two locations conveniently located in Manhattan. If you thought the others had eclectic flavors, you won’t believe these. They create flavors like cheetos and Rosemary & olive oil, but my favorite is “party time” which is salted milk chocolate and dulce de leche.
Laduree
Laduree is as authentic french macarons as you can get it. I have visited in New York, and in Paris. They sell up to 15,000 macarons a day. The green apple and pistachio are a couple of our favorites. If you have never had a macaron you have to try Laduree first. You won’t be disappointed.
Bouchon Bakery
Bouchon bakery isn’t all about macarons, but we love them because they do bigger sized macarons. We like to go classic at Bouchon with Vanilla and Chocolate. You can’t go wrong. While you are in make sure you try their soups and sandwiches.
by Woops
Woops is fairly new to me, but has definitely become one of my favorites. The peanut butter and cookies & cream are to die for. These were some of the softest and mouth watering macarons I have ever had. If you have to pick one, visit these little bakeries at one of their 10 locations in New York.
If you are anything like me you have macarons at least once a week. They are the perfect little treat for an afternoon snack. Do you like macarons? What’s your favorite flavor? Let us know in the comments below.

Macarons ARE amazing! One of my best friends had salt caramel ones at her bridal shower (and let’s be honest–everything should have a salt caramel option!). A few years ago, I got Macarons from a place in Rockefeller Center–would that be Bouchon?
YUM!

Oh yes! Everything should have a salted caramel option! It makes everything better. Yes, that would have been Bouchon! How did you like it? It’s one of our favorites! -S
I loved the ones from Bouchon! I brought some home for my parents who had never eaten anything like them!
