Hey y’all!
Next up on our trip in Norway was Flåm! We hopped on a train in Oslo to Myrdal, and then the Flåmsbana Railway to Flåm. The train ride was so phenomenal through the mountains, and is known as the most beautiful train ride in the world! We even made a little pit stop where we could get out and take some pictures up in the mountains. It was amazing in the snow, so I can’t even imagine what it would be like in the summer months.
Once we arrived in Flåm, we were so surprised by this tiny little town. There are only about 300 people who live there. It is probably the tiniest place I have ever been, as well as the most beautiful. We stayed at the Flåmsbrygga Hotel. It was very rustic, which we love, and the view of the mountains and the fjiord’s was breathtaking. I wish I could wake up to that view every morning!
After we settled in, we went on a guided snowshoe hike which was so unbelievably cool. We went way up into the mountains. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be, and our guide brought snacks and warm drinks for our halfway point. Who doesn’t love snacks!? Unfortunately it started snowing, so the view wasn’t as great as we had hoped. Don’t worry, Norway made up for it the next day!
There was only one restaurant open in town, which happened to be next door to our hotel. The pub was so cute, and we felt like we were in an episode of Game Of Thrones! I also had the best burger I have had in my entire life. It was so flavorful. The Aegir pub also brews their own beer. We ordered a flight of them and all shared. We don’t know a lot about beer, but we enjoyed them!
After a good nights sleep we woke up to this magical view. The cool thing about Norway was that breakfast was included with all of our hotel rooms. It was also fantastic food. They were all buffet’s, but no complaints from us!
Then it was time to head on our fjord cruise. Spoiler alert* this was probably the coolest thing we have ever done in our life! The full beauty doesn’t even come off in the pictures. If you can’t tell from our faces, we were pretty happy out there on the water. Each way that you looked there was something new to see.
Our cruise lasted about two hours as we headed from Flåm to Gudvangen. It was so cool to see how the landscape changed as we continued on. Also, a little note, if you are motion sick you won’t have a problem here. You are in the fjord’s, not the ocean so the water is so calm.
We had an absolute blast in Flåm! It might have been my favorite part of the trip! Stay tuned for our travel diary in Bergen! It was rainy, but so much fun! Don’t forget to watch our vlog down below, and subscribe to our YouTube channel!
