Jessica Cornish, or “Jessie J” as you probably know her by, is one of this years not so breakout artists. Although some of you may have just heard her in the last year because of her single Bang Bang with Nikki Minaj and Ariana Grande, Jessie J has actually been on the music scene since 2006.

Have you ever jammed out in the car to Party In The U.S.A. by Miley Cyrus? Well, you have Jessie J to thank for penning that tune. She released her debut album “Who You Are” in 2011, which included her song Big White Room. This was the very first song I ever heard Jessie sing. Before she had released any music, she recorded her self singing and uploaded videos to YouTube. In 2010 I discovered her and I have been hooked ever since.
She now has tons of chart topping singles including Price Tag, Domino, and her newest Flashlight which is on the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack. Jessie also has three incredible albums, only two of which are available in the U.S., that will absolutely blow your mind. Jessie J’s vocal range is like nothing you have ever heard, and let me tell you, she is even more fantastic live. Ever since I discovered her I was pining to see her perform live. It finally happened 5 1/2 years later.
My anticipation for this concert was eating me alive, but she didn’t disappoint. She doesn’t just sing. Jessie puts so much emotion into her performance’s. She talks to you in between songs, and she told us all at the beginning of the show to forget about every stress that was happening in our lives at the moment, and just enjoy the concert. That is exactly what I needed to hear that night. Not to mention that she covered Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing, and the whole audience died of amazement.
One of the funniest moments of the show was when she saw a really tall man in the middle of the crowd. She called him out and found out his name was “Show”. Ironic huh? She then starting singing a song on the fly about him and his name. One thing led to another, and he ended up on stage playing the guitar, which Jessie proceeded to sing along too. It’s that kind of interaction that you can only get at live shows. It’s absolutely amazing.

If you are ever having a bad day, go listen to Who You Are, Masterpiece or Nobody’s Perfect. Her lyrics will speak to you in a way that you never thought words could. She has also done collaborations with James Morrison, David Guetta, and Tinie Tempah.

I truly think that Jessie J is one of the coolest most talented singers in the industry right now. She shaved her head for charity in March of 2013 for Comic Relief in the UK. Jessie is about to take the world by complete storm, so hop on board and get ready.
