Exploring The Things In Your Own Backyard

We have been talking about doing some staycations in NYC for months now, and we finally got around to booking out first one. We decided to head downtown to Soho because it’s one of our favorite areas in the city!

We picked the Nomo Soho because we have heard so many great things about it. I had brunch there a few years ago and loved it. You may not have heard the name, but you have definitely seen the archway entrance on Instagram. I can’t even tell you how many people walked up just to take a picture.

Our room was definitely on the smaller side, but most NYC hotel rooms are. I have stayed in hotels with smaller rooms before, so it definitely wasn’t bad. We had plenty of room for our things and to move around.

After checking in we headed out to walk around Soho. It ended up being a beautiful day, so we treated ourselves to some coffee and pastries at Urban Backyard. I have a very long list of coffee shops in the city I want to try, and this was at the top of my list. I knew I had to try the Everything Croissant. Trust me, you need it in your life. We love people watching and walking around Soho. It has become pretty touristy, especially around Prince Street, but if you know the best side streets to walk down you can find the best spots.

We wanted to experience everything the hotel had to offer, so we headed to the bar for a quick drink before dinner. They had a pile of board games that you could play. Let’s just say that ash kicked my butt at Connect Four. I’ll get her back somehow, don’t worry!

For dinner we tried a new to us place, Le Botaniste. It is a 100% plant based restaurant, and is now officially one of our favorite restaurants! Turns out they have two locations in the city, and one is not that far from our apartment. I’m not going to confirm or deny that we ordered our dinner from there the following night as well. Ashley ordered the Chili Sin Carne, and I made my own version of the Tibetan Mama.

The view from our room was our favorite part of our stay. It was just truly breathtaking. The next morning we ordered room service and took in the view of the rain over the city. There is nothing better!
