There is no shortage of pizza places in New York City. They are as prevalent as yellow cabs or Starbucks. You can find pizza for as little as $1 a slice, although I wouldn’t necessarily call that pizza “good”. More like a good midnight snack as you’re leaving a bar. But gourmet pizza is a little harder to identify. Pizza Beach is one of our favorites. With as many options for vegetarians as there are for carnivores, the menu focus’s on daily fresh ingredients, and they also offer an impressively comprehensive wine list.
All of the wood fired pizza’s are great, but we highly recommend the classic margarita or the quattro formaggi. They have gluten free crust and dairy free cheese upon request. The pizza’s are the perfect size for one person, but it’s great to go with a friend or two and each order something different so you can mix and match and share.
This is the margarita with house made mozzarella, crushed tomatoes, and fresh basil.
This is the roasted pear and tallegio pizza with caramelized onions, almonds, arugula, aceto, and extra virgin olive oil.
Their fall special was an autumn squash pizza with butternut squash, walnuts, and crispy sage- one of my favorite flavor combos. It was delicious!
Pizza Beach has two locations in the city- one on the Upper East Side and another on the Lower East Side. We highly recommend if you’re a pizza connoisseur looking for some interesting flavor combinations along with a beachy relaxed vibe.
