TGIF! And happy Friday the 13th! Wow, this week dragged on and on. After a busy weekend last week, I have hopes that this weekend will be a little more low key. Although, Shelby is trying to convince me to go play putt putt on the pier, but I have a feeling my physical therapist would not be happy about that decision with my broken shoulder.
Today I thought I would share some of the iPhone apps I’m loving right now. I’ve discovered a few new favorites lately, and always love hearing what apps other people love to use.
Snapchat
I’m very late to this game. Shelbs has been on Snapchat for years, but I just never saw the point. Then, we created an account for As Told By (we’re “ashandshelbs” over there) and it’s logged in on my phone (which explains why you see so many photos of me playing with the hilarious filters, ha ha) and I actually really love it! It’s nice to show such a random and unedited version of ourselves.
A Color Story
This photo editing app is AMAZING! I used to use multiple editing apps just to edit one photo, but ever since this app by Elsie and Emma over at A Beautiful Mess launched, it’s been the only editing app I use. We edit every single instagram and blog photo using this app.
Some of the features are free, but there are add ons you can purchase. The free features are really good, but I highly recommend you purchase all the packs. They are that great!
The cool thing is that you can use multiple filters for a single photo. I edited this photo of Poppy (she got spayed this week- hence the cone) using Punch from the Blush pack at 100% and Sweet from the Blush pack at 25%.
Starbucks
I use the Starbucks app on a practically daily basis. It’s how I find out about the current specials (it’s currently Frappuccino happy hour from 3-5PM though Sunday!) and how I pay for my drinks.
Their new Order feature is something I’ve been using more lately. It’s nice because Shelby and I can each order and pay for our individual drinks for pick up at our neighborhood Starbucks, and one of us can go and grab them- ready for us at the counter.
Li.st
This app is new to me this week, but I’m really loving it! It let’s you share and discover lists that reflect the world in fascinating but social way. It’s a great way to share your own experiences, opinions, random musings, and knowledge in a fun social context.
theSkimm
You may already receive the Daily Skimm in your inbox, but have you heard of their new service Skimm Ahead? It’s a service that makes it easier to be smarter about the future. It informs you of important and newsworthy events and cultural moments coming up in the future. Never miss when your favorite show is launching their new season on Netflix- Skimm Ahead can tell you! The best part- it syncs with your iPhone calendar.
While the app is free, the Skimm Ahead service is $2.99 a month. There is a one month free trial, and you can cancel at anytime. I’ve only been using the app for a week or so, but I do really like it.
Acorns
This app helps you save and invest spare change from your everyday purchases and invests it into a diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds. This app makes it so easy, you can get started in minutes, and start building up a savings without even thinking about it. I have mine set to round up my change (Meaning if I pay $6.95 for a juice at Whole Foods, Acorns will round the purchase up to $7, investing that extra $.05. You can also set automatic deposits to your portfolio. Withdraw the money at any time with no fees.
Yoga Studio
I haven’t gotten much use out of this app since I broke my shoulder, but it’s really great! There is something for everyone on this app, even if you’ve never done yoga before! The following screenshots explain it pretty well, so I’ll let them speak for themselves.
What are your favorite apps? Anything we should be using? Let us know!
