Summer In Central Park

Summer Activities

Summer In Central Park

It’s no secret that summer is not our favorite season. We are already planning out our apple picking trip in a couple of weeks, but I made a conscious decision this year to try and embrace and enjoy summer because NYC has a bunch of great summer activities. We decided that we would knock some of those off of our list this weekend.

We started off with brunch at The Boathouse. We haven’t been in years, but it used to be one of our favorite spots to eat. We used to go for brunch all the time, and have been for dinner before too. We often took our parents there when they were in town. It’s gotten a bit more crowded over the years, but looking out over the water in the middle of the park is just a nice atmosphere. I honestly don’t know if this is new or not, but they brought us whole basket of banana bread to start. I was super excited because I have newly discovered banana bread and I absolutely love it!

After brunch we headed right outside to rent a paddle boat! This is something I have always wanted to do. I can’t believe it took me 8 years to finally do it. It costs $15 (cash only) but you also have to put down a $20 deposit. You will get the $20 back if you are back within the hour. The lake is actually so much bigger than I thought. For some reason I thought it was just the tiny bit that you can see by the restaurant and boy was I wrong! The sun was shining, and it was the perfect afternoon activity.

On our walk back home we stopped to grab some ice cream with sprinkles. I usually only splurge once a year, but there is not much better than getting an ice cream cone from an ice cream truck!

One of our all time favorite summer activities is to go see the fashion exhibit at The MET. Okay, well it’s not really a summer activity, but we classify it as one because it’s only open during the summer. This year’s exhibit was all about “Camp” fashion and it was so cool! This particular day the museum was extremely crowded so it made the experience slightly less enjoyable, but the exhibit was awesome. I highly recommend going to see it! The MET is located right on the edge of Central Park, so make sure you go on a little stroll through the park after you visit the museum!

Whew! Okay now that summer is coming to a close, let’s get ready for all things fall!!!
