Guys, it’s almost time. That is, time for all the new fall shows to premiere. I take planning out my fall TV show watch list very seriously. There are charts and multicolored highlighters involved. Can we also just pause a moment to reflect on the genius of DVRs? While we watch a lot of TV, we watch almost nothing live. In fact, I’ve always recorded my favorite TV shows in some form or fashion- even if that meant setting a timer on my VCR to record on a VHS tape (!). Planning what new shows i want to watch, along with the shows I’ve previously watched, gives me much anticipated excitement. Lucky for me, TVLine has taken a lot of the legwork needed off my plate by coming up with the handy dandy calendar pictured above (click on the photo to make it bigger). Here are the 5 new TV shows we can’t wait to watch this fall.

SHOW: Blood and Oil, NETWORK: ABC, PREMIERES: 9/27, TIME SLOT: Sundays 9 PM EST
SYNOPSIS: “Billy and Cody Lefever dream of a new life beyond their working class roots and move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota, booming after the biggest oil discovery in American history. They’re soon pitted against a ruthless tycoon who forces them to bet big and put everything on the line, including their marriage.”
STARING: Don Johnson (Nash Bridges, Miami Vice), Scott Michael Foster (Chasing Life), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Rebecca Rittenhouse (Red Band Society)
Blood and Oil looks to be a recreation of Dallas, just set in North Dakota. The show looks to be drama filled and has lots of shirtless Chace Crawford so we’re in!

SHOW: Chicago Med, NETWORK: NBC, PREMIERES: 11/17, TIME SLOT: Tuesdays 9 PM EST
SYNOPSIS: “The Chicago Fire spinoff follows the day-to-day chaos of the city’s most bustling hospital and the courageous team of doctors who hold it together. They will tackle unique new cases inspired by topical events, forging fiery relationships in the pulse-pounding pandemonium of the emergency room, and through it all, familiar faces from the Chicago P.D. and Fire departments will intertwine as this third team of Windy City heroes hits the ground running.”
STARING: S. Epatha Merkerson (Law & Order), Yaya DaCosta (Ugly Betty), Nick Gehlfuss (Shameless), Oliver Platt (Fargo), Colin Donnell (Arrow), Brian Tee (Grimm), Torrey DeVitto (Pretty Little Liars), Rachel DiPillo (Jane the Virgin)
This is the third installment of the Chicago series (Chicago Fire debuted in 2012 and Chicago P.D. followed in 2014). I’ve watched Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. since the beginning and love how they seamlessly crossover and intertwine. Chicago Med is another logical step in the franchise and I can’t wait to see how it integrates. Bonus Fact: the creators of the franchise are Baylor grads. (Sic’em Bears!)

SHOW: Heros Reborn, NETWORK: NBC, PREMIERS: 9/24, TIME SLOT: Thursdays 8 PM EST
SYNOPSIS: “The 13-episode miniseries will reconnect with the basic elements of the show’s first season, where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities.”
STARING: Zachary Levi (Chuck), Heroes alumni Jack Coleman, Masi Oka and Jimmy Jean-Louis , plus Robbie Kay (Once Upon a Time), Ryan Guzman (Pretty Little Liars), Rya Kihlstedt (Dexter, Nashville), Gatlin Green (Liv and Maddie), Judi Shekoni (EastEnders), Henry Zebrowski (A to Z), Eve Harlow (The 100), Pruitt Taylor Vince (The Mentalist)
I watched the original Heros (anybody remember “Save the cheerleader save the world”?) when it aired from 2006-2010 and am intrigued to see where the storyline will pick up with this miniseries, especially since some of the original characters are returning. I also loved Zachary Levi in Chuck and am excited to see him back on another television show.

SHOW: Quantico, NETWORK: ABC, PREMIERES: 9/27, TIME SLOT: Sundays 10 PM EST
SYNOPSIS: “A diverse group of recruits have arrived at the FBI Quantico Base for training. They are the best, the brightest and the most vetted, so it seems impossible that one of them is suspected of masterminding the biggest attack on New York City since 9/11.”
STARING: Aunjanue Ellis (NCIS: Los Angeles), Josh Hopkins (Cougar Town), Jake McLaughlin (Believe), Tate Ellington, Priyanka Chopra, Yasmine Al Massri, Johanna Braddy, Graham Rogers
The plot of this show sounds intriguing and I love watching those “who done it” type shows.

SHOW: Scream Queens, NETWORK: FOX, PREMIERES: 9/22, TIME SLOT: Tuesdays 9 PM EST
SYNOPSIS: “An anthology horror-comedy series, the first season of which revolves around a college campus that is rocked by a series of murders.”
STARING: Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Lea Michele (Glee), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), Keke Palmer (Masters of Sex), Nick Jonas (Kingdom), Ariana Grande, Nasim Pedrad (Mulaney), Oliver Hudson (Nashville)
I’m a big fan of anything Ryan Murphy creates, and I do not expect Scream Queens to be any different. I’m not a horror movie fan, but I do like the Scream movies, particularly Scream 4 which stared Emma Roberts, so I’m interested to see Ryan Murphy’s take.
