Beer Bread

When the temperature drops, the first thing we crave is chili. And our favorite side for our homemade chili is beer bread. Have you ever made beer bread? It is literally one of the easiest things you could make. Don’t let the word “bread” scare you. And you probably have all the ingredients you need in your pantry right now.

Here’s what you need:

3 cups of flour

3 Tbs sugar

1 tps salt

12 oz of beer *must be at room temperature

1/4 cup melted butter

Dump the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder into a bowl and mix. Slowly pour in your beer. It will foam up a little so let it settle before stirring. Gently mix together. The less you stir the better. You want it to be lumpy. Pour the mixture into a loaf pan. Melt the butter, and then pour it over the mixture in the pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.

Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing. The edges are crispy and buttery and the inside is soft and pillowy. The type of beer you choose can drastically change the flavor profile. I like to use a darker beer, or this time of year I’ve also used a pumpkin ale, but use whatever type of beer you typically drink. I like to make grilled cheese with the leftovers the next day. Enjoy!
