One of Ashley and I’s favorite things about the holidays is baking cookies. We always bake sugar cookies but this year we wanted to add something else to the mix, gingerbread men. They turned out to be so much fun and not as hard as expected.
You will need:
1 1/2 cups softened butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup molasses
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp ground ginger
5 cups all-purpose flour
Start by combining the sugar and butter and then adding the eggs one at a time until everything is incorporated. Then pour in the molasses.
In a separate bowl combine all the dry ingredients. Then add to the wet mixture until dough is smooth.
You then want to chill the dough for a few hours. Once chilled, roll the dough and cut into any shapes you want and bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
After your cookies are out of the oven and cooled you can decorate them to your hearts content. We got a little carried away with the sprinkles, but that is what makes it fun.
Ashley also tried a new recipe this year (pictured on the right) and I really hope she wants to share with y’all, because dare I say they are my favorite cookies I have ever had.
