This past weekend we met some friends for brunch at one of our favorite little New York spots- Alice’s Tea Cup! There are three locations in the city, all uptown. They each have varied menus, so you may just have to check out all three! Each location is Alice and Wonderland themed, so follow your queen of hearts down the rabbit hole, and you’ll find yourself in a magical land full of tasty treats.
Alice’s is best known for their tea (obviously) and scones, but has some other great options on their brunch menu as well. Our go to there is always a pot of tea and two scones. They have a tea menu with hundreds of teas to choose from, many that are special in house blends. We like the Trafalgar Square tea, but Alice’s Tea is really good too (and is their most popular).
Alice’s scone selection changes daily, so you never really know when you walk in the door what magical treats are waiting for you that day. They do have a few that they typically always have- buttermilk and a caramel glazed pumpkin for instance. For my two scones, I usually always get the buttermilk scone (basically a traditional American biscuit) and then whatever sweet scone they have that day. This one was vegan dark chocolate raspberry, and it was yummy!
They sell all their scones and other assorted baked goods, as well as tea, to-go. So if you aren’t in the mood to wait for a table, or want to grab tea and scones to sneak into the movie theater (not that we’ve done that multiple times or anything :)) you have that option.
If you’re not local to New York City, you can purchase some of Alice’s tea online here.
Have you ever had a traditional English afternoon tea? What is your favorite kind of tea?
