Hey y’all! I know it’s been awhile since our last “Best of NYC” post, but we are back and better than ever. If you watched our Ice Cream Crawl video on our YouTube channel then you have an idea of the ice cream places we visited, but we thought we would go into a little more detail of where you can find each of these places!
There are 5 locations for Van Leeuwan in New York and you can also buy pints at places like Whole Foods. What I like about them is that they offer vegan flavors. This is essential for me since I am lactose-intolerant. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy regular ice cream, but I can only take it in small doses. I love the fluffernutter crunch and the vegan choc chip cookie dough.
This is a fairly new place that Ash and I discovered. You get to make your own ice cream right at the table. I mean how fun is that!? You pick a base of chocolate or vanilla and then pick toppings to incorprate in. We picked vanilla with cookie dough, mini M&M’s, peanut butter sauce, and sprinkles. The price tag is a little steep at almost $30, but it feeds 4. This is also a great activity for kids because they get to do it themselves.
This was a place that I was so excited to try. Their ice cream is shaved, and they have a unique trademarked flavor called yetitracks. It is a mix of oreos, blueberries, and New York Cheesecake. It was honestly so tasty we already want to go back. I loved being able to put toppings on it as well. Having shaved ice cream brings me back to summer days in Austin, Texas having shaved ice snow cones!
I’ve bought several pints of Ample Hills from Whole Foods and I absolutely love it. They have very original and tasty flavors. I’ve had the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, The Munchies, and the Chocolate Milk & Cookies. My goal is to try them all. I have my eye on “The Raw Deal” flavor next!
This has been one of Ashley and I’s favorites for the past 4 years! There is a location right by our old apartment and we fell in love the very first time we went. Our favorite flavor is the Peanut Butter Oreo. It’s our two favorite flavors mixed. I don’t understand why most ice cream places don’t do that? They also have so many flavors that nobody will be disappointed. Make sure you get it in one of their amazing cones. We recommend the fruity pebble and cinnamon toast crunch!
This isn’t just ice cream, but I felt like I needed to include it. You can find Wowfulls at Smorgasburg during the weekends. There is a waffle on the outside, and then you pick an ice cream and toppings to go in the middle. I mean, genius right!? My mouth is watering just looking at it. If anything just get one to capture the perfect Instagram picture! 😉
Unfortunately none of these ice cream places will live up to our Blue Bell standards, but they get pretty darn close! We love them all. I truly don’t think I could pick a favorite. Have y’all ever been? Which one’s your favorite? What do we need to try next? Let us know in the comments below!
