Jacob’s Pickles

One of my favorite brunch places in the city is Jacob’s Pickles, but unfortunately I have only been twice. I am not a morning person, and unless you want to be waiting outside of the restaurant as soon as they open their doors, you will have a wait of 2-3 hours. They do take reservations, but only for parties of 6 or more. It is worth the wait though. Jacob’s Pickles has THE tastiest biscuits and gravy. If you find yourself on the Upper West Side pop in to try it out!

The entire atmosphere is very rustic with southern touches. Being from the south, biscuits and gravy has always been a part of my food repertoire. These creations certainly live up to my southern expectations. We started with some fresh squeezed orange juice, iced coffee, and fried pickles. Most of the time fried pickles come in slices, but here they fry the pickle as a whole. I have to say they were pretty tasty this way. We never turn down anything that is fried.

Ashley ordered the biscuits with mushroom gravy. She was very impressed. The last time I was here I had the biscuits with sausage gravy. It was to die for. This time I switched it up and got the special for the day, cookies and cream biscuit french toast. Yes, you read that correctly. It was literally heaven in my mouth. It was like I was having cake for breakfast. Who would turn that down!? I was only able to eat half of it, but I took it home and had the rest for dinner later that night!

I really wish we could eat here every day, because I truly would. Have any of you ever been to Jacob’s Pickles? Do you have a restaurant by you that sounds similar? Let us know in the comments below.
