Over the past month I have been completely redoing my room. We re-signed our lease with the intention to stay for another year or two, so I thought it was about time to spice things up. I was never fully happy with how my room turned out initially, so I was happy to change it up. Before, it was very dark and felt like a cave. I wanted to open things up and make it lighter.
The first step was to get a new piece of furniture. I used to have a tall black bookcase that completely took over the room. I found this chest of drawers from Urban Outfitters and absolutely fell in love. It could fit all of my things, it was light, and wasn’t tall. I wanted my room to feel very minimalist, and I think I achieved that.
I replaced my bedding with one that is white and light pink. I picked it up from Target, and it was such a bargain! I also got a couple of new pillows. The sloth one is my favorite! I topped off my walls with some of my favorite Melsy’s Illustrations.
My desk has mostly stayed the same, besides the addition of the lamp. I don’t get any natural light in my room, so I have lots of fairy lights and a lamp to get some light that isn’t as harsh.
I keep all of my bags on the back of my door. I also added a scarf basket with all of my plaid winter scarves. I love having them out so that I can see them all year long.
Overall I am so happy with how my room turned out. It makes me feel so much happier and more productive during the work day. Have any of you re done your room recently? Tag us in some pictures! We would love to see!

I love the minimalist look, even more so that we live in a tiny old house with tiny bedrooms. You room updating looks great!

Thanks so much! It’s tough living in such tiny spaces, but it can look so cool if you do it right!
As New Yorkers, we do so much outside that we can live well in compact spaces. Amazing job making this room reflect your personality, taste, and needs!
