Tortilla Flats | Tex-Mex

Tortilla Flats

Ash and I are Tex-Mex obsessed. We pretty much picked the worst place to live to get great Mexican food. With the exception of about 3 restaurants, New York does not have overwhelmingly great Mexican food options. We have told you about Javelina, but one of our other favorites is Tortilla Flats. Nestled in Greenwich Village it will remind you of the small Tex-Mex restaurants you can find back in Texas.

Ashley actually discovered Tortilla Flats when she lived in New York the first time back in 2008. Sheused to go with some of her co-workers every weekend along with their standing Friday night reservation at Serendipity. Tortilla Flats is cheap, just like places back home, and they have queso. I mean they seriously had me at queso. To me it wouldn’t even matter what else they had to offer. They also have a great little bar area and fantastic margaritas that is a hopping spot for locals on the weekends.

This time we were there for brunch, so I had the chorizo burritos and Ash got the Veggie migas, which actually looks more like an omelette! We highly recommend the tacos al pastor if you want something spicy! The refried beans are incredible, and I mean incredible. They are always my favorite part of the entire meal.

Tortilla Flats

If you love Mexican food and are in New York City you must visit Tortilla Flats. It’s such a fun place with yummy affordable food. You won’t regret your decision. They also hold some event nights, so check out the schedule to see if you want to get involved.

If you want to see a little bit more of the restaurant check out our video below.
