Hey y’all! Happy Wednesday! We have almost made it to the weekend! Are you as excited as we are? Today we have another neighborhood guide for you, and it is all about the Financial District or FiDi.
I’m going to start with the most obvious first. You can’t visit the Financial District without heading over to One World Trade Center, the memorial fountains, and the Oculus. Just look up and you can find your way to it.
You also can’t miss out on a visit to Trinity Church. For any of you National Treasure and Hamilton fans it is seriously a must. It is free to walk through the church and around the cemetery. Say hi to Alexander and Elizabeth. Their graves are located on the south side of the church cemetery.
Next up is a stop at the New York Stock Exchange, the Charging Bull, the newly placed Brave Girl, and Federal Hall. Pro Tip* If you are visiting the bull and the brave girl try and go really early in the morning or later at night to avoid the crowds.
You can’t miss out on the new Fulton Street subway station. After the hurricane a few years ago the city decided to completely renovate the station. Now it is clean, fully air conditioned and has several places to grab food and beverages! Totally awesome!
Then you should take a walk all the way south, and end up at Battery Park where you can take a ferry to Liberty & Ellis Island, or take a ride on the Seaglass Carousel.
You can’t go wrong in FiDi! There is always beautiful architecture to look at! Remember as a rule for New York, always look up!
There are not a lot of places to eat or stay in The Financial District, so we suggest checking out our other neighborhood guides, especially Tribeca if you love this area.
Happy Exploring!
