When I was home in Dallas a few weeks ago I knew I had to stop by a place called Howdy Homemade. Ashley and our mom tried this at the Texas State Fair last year. They have a very texan flavor, Dr. Pepper Chocolate Chip. I was drawn in because of the flavor, but there is another reason why I love this place so much.
Howdy Homemade has a full staff of special needs workers. This really stood out to me, and instantly made me so happy. I knew I had to visit this little shop on Lover’s Lane.
When we walked in the door we were instantly greeted by a bright and smiling face. Their staff is so happy to be there, and loves having a job. I was happy to oblige, and was so excited to give them my order. Mom and I both ordered the Dr. Pepper Chocolate Chip and it was amazing!
I loved all of the decor in the shop! It was very eclectic, but fit in just right.
This may not be the fancy ice creams shops in NYC, but the heart and magic behind it makes Howdy Homemade the most special ice cream shop I have ever visited. If you are in the Dallas area you should most definitely give it a visit. Supporting small business’s, especially ones who are giving everyone opportunities is something that Ash and I are so passionate about!
I can’t wait to visit again!
