Hey guys! We are back in NYC after spending some time over Memorial Day weekend hanging out in Dallas. It was fun, but we are happy to be back to the cooler weather. I always forget how hot Texas gets! Thankfully we still have some time before it starts to get that hot here, but we are off to somewhere even warmer very soon so stay tuned for that! But I’m getting ahead of myself. First, we wanted to share a little about our week in Dallas.
Shelby actually got there a few days ahead of me, so her and our Mom spent some time exploring some cute new spots like Houndstooth Coffee.
There are a couple of different locations in Dallas and also some in Austin. Looks like a cute place! Wish I would have had time to go while I was there 🙂
Shelby also popped into Howdy Homemade for a scoop of their Dr. Pepper chocolate chip ice cream which I first tried here.
We grew up in a suburb of Dallas, Garland, TX, and they’ve recently revamped the downtown area.
There is a really cool brewery and BBQ place located right on the square called Intrinsic Brewing. Definitely try some of the beers they make on site!
They were also having a car show downtown, and look at the special guests they had! 🙂
I got to have breakfast with this cute kid before his parents move off to England with him in a couple months. Expect a lot of trips to England in As Told By’s future….
Our parents do not live in the country (unlike what most people perceive when we say we’re from Texas) but there is a goat farm behind their house. And LOOK! It’s a polka dot goat! Ha ha
We hit up a farmer’s market for some yummy fresh local produce for our Memorial Day weekend BBQ festivities.
One of the things we were in Texas for was our cousin’s high school graduation. He was valedictorian- that little smarty pants. Er, well I guess he’s not that little. Also, full disclosure, it just took me an embarrassingly long time to correctly spell valedictorian. Clearly I was not one, ha ha.
On Saturday night we split up and Shelby and our Mom headed to Trinity River Distillery for a tour and whisky tasting. They really enjoyed it and brought home a bottle of the honey whiskey that they loved!
Meanwhile, Dad and I had our own self-directed whiskey tasting at Tricky Fish. Have you guys ever had smoked whisky? It’s so good!!
The rest of the weekend was really just more food after more food! We were pretty much outside nonstop, grilling, eating snack trays our Mom put together, drinking, and listening to music. It was some much needed R&R time!
And one night we made s’mores, which is THE BEST THING EVER!
We’re off on our next trip very soon! Any guesses as to where? I’ve already said it’s warm…and you last hint is that it’s in the US! Put in your guesses below! 🙂
