Books I’ve Read Lately | Volume One

I’ve always been a big reader. As part of my 30 things to do before 30 list I wanted to read 30 books in a year. Pretty do-able for me. I thought I’d share some of the books I’ve read lately, and what is on my to-read list. I read a pretty good mix of fiction and non-fiction. As Shelby has mentioned, I’m known for always reading more than one book at a time. For example, currently I’m in the middle of re-reading The Martian and the first Harry Potter and I’ve also started Notes From a Small Island.

The Royal We

If you love all things Will and Kate then you have to read The Royal We. It’s basically an imagined version of how they met and fell in love. Shelby and I have both read it and LOVED it.

Brooklyn

You may have seen the movie Brooklyn in theaters. I have not seen the movie, but I did recently read the book. I was really excited to read it based on the movie previews, but I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. Maybe the movie is different than the book?

The Irish Cottage

I think I stumbled upon The Irish Cottage while scrolling through iBooks on my iPad. It was free, so I downloaded it. I saw that it was part of a three part series. After The Irish Cottage is The London Flat and then it’s The Paris Apartment. All places I love. I had zero expectations but actually really enjoyed this series. They are each light, easy reads.

girlboss

I’m probably the last person on the planet who hadn’t read Girlboss (besides Shelby that is). It was a quick read for me. Sophia’s non-traditional path to success was interesting to learn about, but I guess I was expecting a little more from a book that everyone seemed to rave about.

When breath becomes air

I just finished When Breath Becomes Air. I’ve followed Paul’s story over the past couple of years, after first learning about him while reading Joanna’s blog. I was interested to learn more about him while reading his heartbreaking memoir. The book, like Paul’s life, ends much to abruptly, but I guess that’s sort of fitting for a book about death.

Next up on my reading list is Big Magic. Shelby read it and loved it, and I got the book for Christmas but haven’t read it yet. I also just bought Me Before You. I want to read it before the movie comes out. The sequel After You came out last fall so I’ll likely read that next. I’m also interested to read The Road to Little Dribbling after I finish Notes From a Small Island.

What’s on your current reading list? Do you prefer e-books or are you old school and like actual hard copies?

    I love reading! 🙂
I am on the wait list for The Royal We from the library. I cant wait!! I am just finishing the Scorch Trials. I still love me some young adult fantasy books. Going to pick up the Martian and start reading it this weekend. I always prefer reading the book before watching the movies!
I dont know how you keep up with so many different books at once!
Sometimes I am not sure what to read next or if a book is worth it.
I just tried reading The Testament of Youth, since the movie is out. But I could only get through about 100 pages. I was so bored! That one went back to the library without finishing it.
    Love reading yalls book reviews
