Denver House Tour: Ashley's Room Reveal

Next up on our house tour is my bedroom! Many of you have asked how we decided on our bedrooms and it really wasn’t that big of an issue. Both Allix and Shelby felt very strongly that they didn’t want a bedroom that was in the basement (basements are VERY common in Denver) and I didn’t mind. So with every house we looked at I just always assumed I’d get whatever room was in the basement. Even though it’s in the basement, it still gets great light, and even the occasional bunny visitor in my window (anyone remember Windy?) and has an attached bathroom which is a great bonus. I’ve shared a bathroom my entire life except for 3 years in college where I had my own, so sharing a bathroom doesn’t really bother me, but I will admit having my own is pretty nice!

After having the exact same furniture for 10 years in New York, I knew I wanted a change. So I either didn’t bring it in the move or it’s re-purposed in other areas of the house. The first thing I wanted to nail down was my bed. I’ve always loved the look of a plush velvet headboard, and I saw this one while scrolling on Instagram one day and knew I had to have it. I love the color, the upgraded size (it’s a Queen) and how it looks in the space.

My bedding is all from Buffy. It’s so soft and such good quality I look forward to crawling into bed every day. The green throw pillows are from H&M and the knit throw blanket is from Target.

My nightstands are from Urban Outfitters and the lamps are from Target

This mirror is from West Elm and you may recognize it from Shelby’s room in NYC. We switched mirrors when we moved because they worked better in our respective spaces. This faux plant from Target and this rug from Amazon make a cozy little corner.

Both the long shelves I have photos displayed on and the smaller ones I have in the corner by the mirror are command shelves. They are easy to put up, and if you have a space where you don’t want to make holes in the wall I highly recommend these.

My dresser matches my nightstands and is also from Urban Outfitters. I will be having someone mount my TV on the wall soon- that’s the only thing I haven’t gotten to in my room.

I enjoyed playing with the decor in my bathroom. I saw this rug from H&M way back in April or May and then kind of based everything else around those colors. My shower curtain is also from H&M.

The bathroom was lacking storage so I added this shelf from Ikea over the toilet.

This area was just an awkward empty space, so I found a shelf that fits perfectly against the back wall for some additional storage. I got the shelf from Amazon but it’s not available anymore and they removed the listing so I can’t link it. My towels are the super plush towels from Brooklinen and they are amazing! Highly recommend if you are in the market for some new towels.

The shower itself is pretty small. For that reason, I knew I needed to take advantage of vertical space for shower storage and after a lot of research ended up getting this shower pole. I’ve tried to use these things in the past and they NEVER stay well, but this one had tons of good reviews and I really didn’t have a choice but to do something like this. Plus it’s stupid expensive. But I have to say, it works perfectly and I have had zero issues with it. It took 30 seconds to install and hasn’t budged since. I still don’t understand why it’s so expensive, but I do recommend it.

I quickly discovered because the shower is on the small side, that it was a bit difficult to figure out how to effectively shave my legs. I stumbled upon this shower stool when browsing at Target, and as silly as it sounds, I decided to try it just to simply have something to prop my leg up on. I didn’t realize how much I relied on the edge of a tub for that, haha.

I’m so happy with how everything in my bedroom and bathroom turned out! It’s my cozy little downstairs oasis!
