We are so excited to share the first of many room reveals from our new house in Denver, CO with you today! We shared an empty house tour in this video if you want to see the “before” of the whole house. First up is the living room! Everything that can be linked will be linked within this post. If you see something that isn’t linked it’s probably old and no longer available, but if you have any specific questions don’t hesitate to ask! Poppy insisted on being in this photoshoot, which is fair because the living room is her favorite room in the house.
Our general style leans clean and modern with pops of color here and there. We wanted this space to feel cozy but also sophisticated. The main goal was ample seating for us as well as our guests. We mostly use this space to hang out and watch TV at the end of the day.
While there are a few finishing touches we have yet to complete (we want to add on to the gallery wall and find another side table) this was the first room to feel “done” in our house. In fact, 90% of this room was done before our boxes and furniture arrived from NYC!
Both sofas and the chair are all from Article. I’d had my eye on this sofa forever and knew I wanted to incorporate it into our new space. Shelby has always wanted a velvet sofa and we fell in love with this emerald green color. We had a different chair on order initially but once we saw both sofas in the space we knew it wouldn’t work. So we canceled it and opted for this chair from Article instead. Since the furniture was all very boxy with hard angles we went with a circular coffee table to soften up the space. This striped rug from Ikea pulls the space together.
We grabbed this lamp and basket from Target. The lamp is actually essential because there are weirdly no ceiling lights in the living room space.
This side table is a piece Allix has had for years so unfortunately, it’s not something that’s currently available. But we love how it works in this space! The striped blanket is from The Sister Market.
We knew we wanted to blow up and frame the photo of the three of us on our NYC stoop and put it somewhere in the house. In fact, that’s how the idea of that photo started, and then it evolved into using it to announce we were moving. But the plan was to always hang it in our Denver house to remind us of our days in NYC. Once we started to pull the living room together we decided to do a black and white gallery wall with that image as a focal point. The gallery wall isn’t finished yet, we’re still hunting for some prints that we like, but this is a good start for now!
On the opposite wall is our media cabinet and TV. We knew we wanted something white with doors that we could hang our TV above and we landed on this piece from Ikea. It works perfectly for our needs and we love the clean modern look of it. We initially planned to use our same living room TV from New York in this space, but as soon as it got here and we saw it on that wall it looked so incredibly tiny that we decided to upgrade. That was around the same time as the Amazon Prime Day sales and so I snagged a 65″ Samsung Frame TV and we are obsessed with it. They are pricey, but I personally love being able to switch out the digital art on the screen whenever I want. Changing that up completely changes the feel of the space which is fun!
