Earth Day

central parkToday is the 45th anniversary of Earth Day! Of course, Earth has been around for millions of years, but was only deemed special enough to receive it’s own day until 1970, ha ha. In all seriousness though, without getting to political, this modern environmental movement has raised awareness and attention for some crucial issues within the world. We try our best to give back to mother Earth when we can. In 2010, the UN reported that the best way to protect the environment is to adopt a vegan/vegetarian diet, given the harmful effects of factory farming. Ashley has been a vegetarian for about 6 years now and Shelby eats a mostly vegetarian diet. We recycle, use reusable water bottles, bring our own bags to the grocery store, and use public transportation. There are so many great brands creating sustainable, eco-friendly products and in honor of Earth Day we thought we would share some with you.

Brands like H&M conscious collection, Stella McCartney, Angela & Roi and Matt & Nat all offer eco-friendly clothing and accessories. Some of our favorite beauty brands like Origins, Bite Beauty, Burts Bees, Aveeno, and Tarte all use natural ingredients which is something we both look at when purchasing beauty products. Many celebrities are very passionate about environment friendly products. The Honest Company, by Jessica Alba offers natural and safe products for the the home, beauty, and baby’s. Actress Angie Harmon has recently released a jewelry collection, in partnership with Red Earth, that is made from up-cycled materials.

We’d love to hear what your favorite eco-friendly brands are. Leave us a comment and let us know!
