Setting Goals And Keeping Accountability
And just like that, it’s February! On one hand, it feels like January lasted 753 days, but on the other it was over in the blink of an eye. Such is life these days I suppose. We talked a lot about health and wellness in January, and I’d like to continue that thread into February by setting some specific goals- my February intentions if you will.
Recharge
It may surprise you to learn, Shelby and I are both introverts. We crave alone time to recharge. Since we live together and work together, it’s very important for us to make the time to do things separately. If we don’t, we can get very snippy with each other. This happened more in January than I care to admit, so this month I’d like to be more intentional of being sure we both get the alone time we need. This could be as simple as taking a walk alone, spending a Saturday morning reading a book in the park, or taking a long bath.
Protecting My Time
We lead very busy lives that are meticulously scheduled. Like most people, time is our most precious resource. I am constantly fighting to protect my time, and fill it with the things a) make me happy, b) advance my knowledge, and c) help others. Now, that’s the goal, but I am the first to admit that I’m not great at it. My intention for February is for everything that I schedule for myself to fit one of the three above categories.

I like to think that I’m a positive person most of the time, outwardly at least, but I internalize a lot. In January, as a result of our lifestyle changes, I focused a lot on what I was wasn’t doing. I missed running to Starbucks to pick up a latte. During The Bachelor I thought about how I was missing that glass of wine. On weekend mornings all I wanted to do was head to brunch. Instead of focusing on how much better I felt my eliminating the foods I did, and how much more energy I had when hitting the gym, I focused on what I perceived I was missing out on. In February I want to shift my perspective and focus on the positive.
