The Perfect Way To Relax On A Friday Night

How To Take The Perfect Bath

Taking a nice long relaxing bath is the perfect way to help detox your body and promote relaxation for your metal health. Ash and I are both huge fans of baths. We totally get that from our mom! She has at least 3 long baths a week! Since we have one tiny bathroom in our apartment that isn’t quite possible, but we do try to take them as often as possible. I always feel so refreshed and ready to conquer the world after I take them. There is a certain art to taking a bath though. Don’t pull a Chandler Bing and not mix the bath salts right! Here are my steps to taking the perfect bath!

Candles. The lighting is so important to get you in a relaxed state. Turn off the lights, and just have light from some candles. The scent of the candles are also really important. You want to pick scents that complement each other with the scents you are going to be putting in your bath. Stick to something like lavender, eucalyptus or vanilla. Neutral enough that will mix with most things. If you don’t have that, just stick to unscented candles. The ambience will be the same. Seriously, you will thank me when you turn off the lights. It makes the experience SO much better!

Bubbles. In my opinion, you can’t take a bath without bubbles. To me it is weird to just sit in some plain water. What is the point of that? I’ve always loved bubble baths. When we were younger and staying at our grandparents house we use to take these amazing bubble baths in their tub. I can’t believe the amount of bubbles our grandma used to let us put in there. SO MANY BUBBLES! I also became a pro at the Santa beard!

Face Mask. Since being an adult I have never taken a bath without a face mask. You are already relaxing and staying put, so it is the perfect opportunity for a face mask! I usually like to do a clay or detox one when I’m taking a bath because I’m already working on detoxing the rest of my body. Look out for a blog post this Friday all about our favorite face masks at the moment!

Relaxing Music, Show, or Movie. Basically just put something on that makes you happy. Usually for me that is a movie, but with my impending laser eye surgery I think I will be taking lots of baths with plenty of relaxing music. Our bathroom is so small so setting my iPad on the toilet (haha that sounds weird) is always the perfect height to watch my fav rom coms. If you don’t want that extra screen time just throw on a spa playlist and you will be good to go!

Body Scrub. Not necessary, but definitely encouraged. We love a good body scrub, but do this towards the end of your bath. With all of the oils from the bubbles and hydration from the water, a scrub is the next best things for your body. Your skin will really thank you!

Hot or cold beverage. I actually usually have two. I like to keep hydrated so water is a must, but a glass of wine during a nighttime bath is highly accepted in our household! If it’s too early for wine I will usually bring in a cup of tea or some coffee.
