As you’re probably aware, early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started last week for Nordstrom cardholders and access for non-cardholders starts this Friday 7/19. We look forward to this sale every year and would be shopping it the same way whether we were sharing our picks with you or not. After placing our orders online last week, the shipments have started to trickle in over the past couple of days. we can’t wait for the Nordstrom store to finally open in NYC so that we no longer have shopping online as out only option!
A couple of key things if you’re new to shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale-
1. This sale is so fun (and the ONLY one we ever shop) because it’s BRAND NEW stuff hitting the store that’s on sale. It’s not end of season spring/summer product. It’s new fun fall stuff! And since that’s our favorite season to shop for, that makes this sale so fun for us.
2. Keep in mind Nordstrom offers free shipping/returns on EVERY purchase. That means you can purchase online with peace of mind that you can easily return anything you don’t love, and you don’t have any added shipping expense.
3. Early access started for the sale today (7/12) for Nordstrom credit or debit card holders and the sale goes live to the public next Friday 7/19 thru 8/4. While the sale goes until 8/4, I encourage you to shop early as sizes, colors, and items will disappear FAST! If something was out of stock that you wanted, or it currently isn’t available in your size or color keep checking back as things are constantly getting restocked throughout the sale. If you don’t have a card, no worries, you can still look at the entire sale, add things to your shopping bag or wish list and simply check out on Friday (July 19th) at the sale price!
WHAT WE BOUGHT:
Ashley’s Purchases-
I always know I’ll stock up on some new sweaters during the sale. The middle of July is a hard time to think about sweaters, but the prices are too good to resist! And almost every single one I purchased is under $50. One of my favorite purchases from the was this striped turtleneck sweater. It’s a good medium weight in a nice soft fabric. All of my other turtle necks are a thick chunky knit, so I’m happy to add this lighter weight piece to my wardrobe.
I’m very excited about this cowl neck sweater I grabbed in beige. It sold out really fast online but hopefully they’ll restock it or you can check in store. I ended up going up a size because my size was sold out, but I don’t mind I like the slightly oversized feel. These black jeans pictured here are the Madewell cali demi boot cut and they are part of the sale this year. Love these so much! I think I’m actually going to exchange them for a smaller size as the fabric is super stretchy and these are a little loose around my waist. These shoes are also Madewell and I’m so glad I got them! I was on the fence and decided to just order them to see, and then they sold out. Hopefully they’ll come back in stock, but this same style also comes in solid colors. It is a great flat mule that I’ll get a lot of wear out of.
I finally broke down and bought a Barefoot Dreams cardigan this year. I ended up going with this style, which I hadn’t seen before, in the olive green color. It is as soft as everyone says. I still don’t think it’s quite worth the cost, and I’m curious how it’s going to feel after washing, but I do like it enough to keep it. This is the BP v-neck tee that’s on sale for under $12. I got it in grey and black too. The white is just a touch sheer, so you may want to size up for a looser fit.
[one_third padding=”0 3px 0 0″][/one_third][one_third padding=”0 3px 0 3px”][/one_third][one_third_last padding=”0 0 0 3px”][/one_third_last]I am not keeping these 3 sweaters. I really wanted to like this color blocked sweater but it was really boxy. The front was also a lot shorter than the back, which I knew from the photos online, but on me it just wasn’t very flattering. I really like the grey striped sweater, I just wish it was 2 inches longer. I love the quality and the print, but I don’t think even sizing up will give me the length I’m looking for. The yellow sweater is basically just too yellow. I felt a little like big bird. I like the quality and the fit a lot, but it didn’t come in any other colors that interested me.
I also got the striped version of the BP v-neck tee in both white and black. I layer these tees under sweaters and cardigans in the fall and wear on their own in the warmer months. You really can’t beat a great basic tee like this.
This classic baseball tee was another great find at under $19. I like that it is long-sleeved as a lot of baseball tees have 3/4 sleeves. This tee also has a band at the hem which I was surprised to find I actually liked. The white part is just a touch sheer so size up if you want a looser fit.
I also grabbed this Patagonia pullover. I’ve never owned anything from Patagonia, but I’ve always heard very good things about the quality of items like this. I didn’t own a layering piece quite like this, and after trying it on I understand why so many people love it. It fits so well and is the perfect length. It was recommended to size up and I agree with that. I also just ordered this fuzzy pullover in the color Bordeaux. Thanks for all of your help voting on our Instagram story!
These joggers were another impulse buy after I saw someone post a photo of them. What I like most about them is they are a woven crepe fabric, not a knit or fleece material, so they don’t feel quite as casual. I can already see them being my go to travel pants, for wearing around the house, or throwing on to run some quick errands.
I love the Zella live in high waist leggings so much! I literally live in them. They are great for working out but I also wear them around the house all the time or when traveling. The high waist really holds you in and is really comfortable. I have several pairs in black and so I grabbed them in this emerald green color which I love! If you don’t own a pair of these yet you’ll definitely want to get you one while they are on sale. I also got this Zella sports bra to try. It’s really more of a crop top, but I do really like it.
Shoes is typically one of the first things I look at in the sale, and trust me there are a lot of good ones this year. I just really don’t need a lot of new shoes right now. But that didn’t stop me from ordering three pairs, ha ha. I got these Adidas sneakers in black but the grey are really cute too and under $64! Here is another look at those Madewell calf hair mules which I love. The last pair I grabbed are these Ugg motorcycle boots. I saw these in the catalog and couldn’t stop thinking about them. But after seeing them online I wasn’t sure about them anymore. But in person, I do really like them. They have zippers on both sides of the shoe which makes them really easy to get into. They are lined with the classic Ugg shearling so they are also going to be nice and warm during winter. And they are waterproof! If you need a good winter boot these are a great price during the sale.
I grabbed another of my favorite pajama sets in purple because I saw they were on sale. Seriously my favorite pajamas ever. So soft and cozy! I got the shorts version this year but the pants set is also great! I seriously own like 7 versions of these pajamas they are the best!
I take advantage of the opportunity to stock up on boring things like bras, underwear that rarely go on sale. I have several of these Natori feathers bras and they are the best bra I’ve ever owned hands down. I also got several pairs of Natori underwear to try in this style and this style. After trying them on I really like the briefs, but didn’t like the thong style. I think because it was one size fits all and was a little to low rise for my taste. So those are going back. I’m contemplating ordering these instead.
Shelby’s Purchases-
Does this outfit look familiar!? Ash and I both bought the BP striped tee, and the same Madewell black jeans. I love them both so much and have definitely decided to keep them. They are both classic pieces to have in your closet.
[one_half padding=”0 3px 0 0″][/one_half][one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 3px”][/one_half_last]The purchase I was most excited about was this coat. I was so sad when I pulled it out and it looked and felt like it was eating me alive! 🙁 I ordered my normal size, medium (pictured on the left), but I highly suggest you size down, I immediately ordered a small (pictured on the right) and while you can’t totally tell the difference in these photos, the small fit so much better. I’m so happy with this coat and am counting down the days until I’m able to wear it!
This Something Navy sweater was a surprise for me. I added it to my cart last minute, and I’m glad I did. It comes in 4 different colors, but I went with the oatmeal. It’s incredibly soft. Ideally I would actually size down because it’s a little bigger than I want. I love oversized sweaters, but I feel like with the cut of this one you want it a little more fitted.
[one_third padding=”0 3px 0 0″][/one_third][one_third padding=”0 3px 0 3px”][/one_third][one_third_last padding=”0 0 0 3px”][/one_third_last]I loved this Topshop sweater so much that I bought it in two colors, the stripe and the pink. I love them both and have decided to keep them both. They serve different purposes right!? I also picked up this Something Navy leopard skirt. I love it paired with the pink sweater. Was totally hoping I wouldn’t like it because #budget but it’s super cute and so versatile. In the word’s of Ashley “Leopard is a neutral”!
These cami’s have been such a struggle. I ordered it in the ivory and black and both got cancelled. They accidentally sent this one to me in an XL so I tried it on just to see what it looks like. It’s obviously too big, but I really hope it comes back into stock during public access.
[one_half padding=”0 3px 0 0″][/one_half][one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 3px”][/one_half_last]I can’t even tell you how obsessed with this workout gear. I’ve been Old Navy activewear loyal through and through, but this Zella sports bra might be my favorite thing from the sale! Big words I know! I just love it so much. It holds everything in, it’s comfortable, and has great coverage. I’ve already worked out in it, and bought it in more colors. These Zella leggings are great as well. They are a little long on me because I’m short so I ordered the 7/8 length to try. Turns out I actually like the regular length better. It has a just slightly higher waistline which I like.
I obviously had to pick up another pair of the Nordstrom Moonlight Pajamas. They are the only PJ’s Ash and I wear. I think this is my 5th pair? We have them in every color, and there is no better time to stock up than during this sale while they are only $42!
[one_half padding=”0 3px 0 0″][/one_half][one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 3px”][/one_half_last]Okay here is my cardigan conundrum. I don’t need both of them. I really want the Topshop one (camel colored) one to work but It was too big! I reordered in a small, but It won’t be here for a couple of weeks. I LOVE the Madewell ryder cardigan (grey) but I already have it in a couple colors. My closet really needs something the camel color, so I think I’m going to keep that one and return the Madewell one. They are both perfect options though. It just depends on what your closet needs.
[one_third padding=”0 3px 0 0″][/one_third][one_third padding=”0 3px 0 3px”][/one_third][one_third_last padding=”0 0 0 3px”][/one_third_last]I always LOVE looking at the shoes during the sale. I picked up three pairs this year, Ugg slippers, Adidas Sneakers and these Blondo Leopard sneakers. The adidas actually run a little small, so I ordered them a half size up, but other than that I love them all and will be keeping them!
I’m scared to total up all my purchases after returns! I go a little too crazy during this sale! So far this BP sweater is the only other thing I’m for sure planning on returning. This is not good for my bank account. The sweater is fine, I just have things that are similar, and I’m trying to stay in my budget.
You can view the entire sale here. And it’s not just clothing items! There are great beauty deals and also some great home stuff! We both got these blankets which are $25 and the absolute softest thing we’ve every felt.
