Is It Really A Weekend In NYC Without Brunch?

NYC Brunch Round Up

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day hands down. I could eat pancakes, eggs, waffles, and avocado toast at any point of the day. Here in New York we tend to skip breakfast and take part in brunch instead. Brunch is something to be taken very seriously here. Some people go for the food, some people go for the bottomless mimosas, and some people are just trying to find the best avo toast in the city!

We have lived here for 7 years, so as you can imagine we have tried so many brunch places here in the city. We’ve had the good, the bad, and the amazing so we have rounded up all of our favorites for you in one place. We will definitely keep this post updated when we try new ones, so bookmark it so you don’t miss out on a new discovery!

Bluestone Lane– This australian based coffee and cafe chain is one of our favorite things in the city. Order the avocado toast and an almond milk latte.

Sarabeth’s– This was one of the first places I ever had brunch in the city, before we even lived here. Their coffee is incredible, but get the four flowers mimosa to drink as well. You also can’t go wrong with their food. It’s classic and amazing!

Freemans– We first went to Freeman’s about a year ago and we instantly fell in love. It’s down a little alley so you feel secluded, but the restaurant itself is actually really big. It’s classic american breakfast food, so everyone is bound to be happy.

The Milton– We stumbled upon this little Irish pub/restaurant in our neighborhood and instantly knew that it would be a place we come back to often. It’s pretty small, so we recommend a reservation. The eggs are amazing, and so are the pancakes!

Jack’s Wife Freda– If you are on Instagram and follow anyone who lives in NYC you have seen Jack’s Wife Freda. It’s like an Israeli/Mediterranean hybrid and I’m so down for it. They have two locations now, but I have only been to the original. This is one of those Instagram famous places that actually lives up to the hype.

The Butcher’s Daughter– If you are into a really healthy brunch this is the place for you. They are completely plant based, and one of my all time fav places. The locations in New York are pretty small, so expect to wait! It’s totally worth it though.

Egg Shop– If eggs are your thing than you have to make a stop at The Egg Shop. Not only is their logo adorable, but the food is incredible. I always “make my own” egg sandwich and always leave completely satisfied.

The Grey Dog– I went here so much during my college days. I would describe it as a hippie diner on crack. Think diner food but better quality with a touch of williamsburg but located in Manhattan. Did I convince you to go yet? The food is always great and they have some lovely pastries. It’s perfect for a quick casual meal with the girls.

Maman- This is a new discovery for us, but has quickly become one of our go to’s. If you sell anything with lavender in it you know I’m on board. Their lavender hot chocolate is to die for, as well as the avocado toast. We just really love the vibes in this place. There are several around the city so take your pick.

Jacob’s Pickles– If you don’t wait to wait for 3 hours to get a table here, show up before they even open. This place is very famous amongst New Yorker’s, and I completely understand why. If you don’t order something with a biscuit we can’t be friends anymore. They have some of the best southern breakfast food you can find.

Union Fare– This place is super cool and a bit of a bigger space for New York standards. It’s located near Union Square in a really cool industrial building. They have some really great food options, but make sure you save room for one of their stuffed croissants! We recommend the birthday cake and the red velvet!

The Smile– This is one of my all time favorite places in New York. Located in the basement of a building you get a real autumn rustic vibe. The Smile has a simple but a very tasty mediterranean inspired menu. The vibes are just so fun! I almost don’t want to tell you about it because it feels like my little secret. Also, I don’t think I have been in there where we haven’t seen a celebrity, so if that’s your thing then this is the place for you!

Alice’s Tea Cup– There is nothing I love more than a cup of tea and some scones! They have 3 locations in the city, but they all of the same aesthetic. From the mismatched china to the daily rotating scone flavors you won’t be disappointed with this light breakfast. Seriously you have to go and experience Alice’s!
