Next up in our neighborhood guide series is the Flatiron District. We love this area, especially for their vast variety of food options. The Flatiron District, named after the Flatiron Building, is one of our go to neighborhoods for shopping, photography, and of course all of the food & snacks we can get.

It’s namesake, the Flatiron Building, is 22 stories tall and famously triangular in shape. Fun fact: Our dad has a giant photo of the Flatiron building in his home office. Every time we are at our parents house we feel right at home.

Many retail brands have their flagship stores in the area. We always pop into Kate Spade and Club Monaco when we’re in the area. You can also take a spin class at Flywheel or get a blowout at Dreamdry or RPZL.

Be sure to check out the schedule of events as there is always something going on. Madison Square Eats occurs for a month each season and like Smorgasburg, is a great way to taste food from a variety of cuisines.

Some of the best restaurants in the city are in the Flatiron District. Stop by Hill Country Barbeque for some great Texas style BBQ or walk around the corner to Hill Country Chicken if you’re in the mood for some delicious fried chicken. One of our favorite places to visit in Flatiron is Wagamama. If a burger is more your speed then be sure to stop by the original Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. The line is always long, but it does move pretty quick, and eating a burger and cheese fries in the park is a perfect way to spend an afternoon. If you fancy some coffee or brunch pop into Maman!

Eataly is the world’s largest Italian marketplace. It’s unique in that while you are grocery shopping for the yummy Italian feast your going to whip up in your kitchen, you can get inspiration for that meal by dining at one of Eataly’s restaurants. Each of Eataly’s seven restaurants is positioned adjacent to the corresponding market section, making it really easy to get a sense of the ingredients for purchase in the store since they are cooked and served right to you. Don’t worry if you can’t make it to NYC anytime soon, you can now shop online!

I’d guess it’s probably the fanciest looking Home Depot in the world.

Have you ever visited the Flatiron District? What is your favorite thing to do?
