Did any of you guys watch the Downton Abbey series finale last night!? We are still not over it! I can’t believe that it is actually over, but the episode was so great and didn’t leave us with any questions which was nice! In preparation for the episode, our mom put together the cutest tea tray to bring out our inner posh British side. Every time we go over to the United Kingdom, we make it a point to have “tea at castles”. We still have a few more to go, but this weekend we had a tea party at our very own Dunn Castle.
Each tea tray our mom puts together is always a little different, which I absolutely love. This weekend we had a lavender butter to spread on our “scones” (forgive us, in the south we have biscuits). My aunt had made the butter for my mom, so this was actually the first time I have tried it. I will be calling her to find out the recipe very soon. I absolutely loved it! The cookie butter cheesecake bites are some of my favorites, as well as the crunchie rock cookies straight from England.
We sip on our tea, that we have bought from palaces in England, and pretend we are of the highest stature and hope that Mr. Carson will be in at any moment to refill our cups. But until then we will just have to pretend and binge watch our DVD’s of Downton Abbey so it will live on forever.
Have any of you ever put together an afternoon tea party for guests, or even just yourself? Let us know in the comments below and send us some of your pictures. We would love to see your creations, and how you celebrate the marvelous tradition of afternoon tea.

Love Love Love hot Tea and Downtown Abbey. One of my PM’s at work calls me a Britt, bc I drink hot tea everyday. 🙂 I had made sure I was drinking Hot Tea when I watched the finale. I was very happy with the way they ended it but so sad that it was ending!
