Trendsend | My First Box

Trendsend

Have you guys heard of Trendsend by Evereve? A few weeks ago, I decided to give it a try. The basic premise is simple. You fill out an online style profile listing your sizes, what you like (and don’t like), and a personal stylist picks out pieces based on your profile. You receive a box in the mail, and get the opportunity to try on everything in the comfort of your own home, while mixing and matching with pieces you currently own. You keep what you like, and have 5 business days to send back what you don’t. Here’s the best part. You are under no obligation to buy, and shipping is free (both ways), so you can request a box and send everything back and never pay a dime! Your credit card is only charged if you keep any of the pieces. You may have heard of Stitch Fix, which is a similar process, except you are charged $20 for your box. If you decide not to keep something, you are out that $20, but if you keep any items, that $20 acts as a credit towards those items. I’ve considered using Stitch Fix in the past, but wasn’t sure if I’d like what someone else picked out for me, and didn’t want to be out $20 in the process. When I heard about Trendsend, I was excited about the zero risk, and quickly signed up for my first box.

The verdict- I really liked this service! My stylist really captured what I said I liked in my profile, and I loved that I could try on the pieces with my current wardrobe, and even had the flexibility to wear them around the house for a bit really testing them out.

I received 8 different pieces in my box, which I thought was a lot! I knew as soon as I opened the box that I was going to have some hard decisions to make. I truly liked everything at first glance. Included in the box is a letter from your stylist listing out why they picked each item, and how they advise you wear them. There is also an itemized list of each item with it’s price, but each item is tagged with the price as well for ease of reference.

My stylist had placed everything in the box into 3 different outfits. The first outfit consisted of olive green skinny pants and a black and grey striped long sleeve top. I liked the idea of both of these items, but the pants didn’t fit me well, and while i love a striped shirt, it was a little to short for my preference.

The second outfit was a long sleeve olive green top that had some draping in the front and had a longer hem in the back. My stylist paired the top with a pair of denim skinny jeans. The top was something I never would have tried on if I saw it in the store, but it was actually very cute on. I had mentally prepared myself for the jeans not to fit, as I always have a hard time finding pants, but not only did they fit perfectly, I really liked them!

The last outfit was probably the most “me”. It was a flannel button down shirt (made of the softest fabric I’ve ever felt!), paired with a graphic tee, black leggings, and a olive green safari style jacket. I really loved the flannel, but couldn’t stop associating the color of it with the Fourth of July (I know it’s silly). I love a graphic tee, but this one was very sheer and I thought it was to overpriced for what it was. It was love at first sight for the black leggings as soon as I pulled them out of the box. They are made of a very thick ponte knit, and I started planning outfits in my head before I had even tried them on. I also really liked the jacket, but went back and forth on if I wanted to keep it as I already had an olive green jacket.

So what did I keep?

TrendsendI kept the safari jacket, the jeans, and the black leggings. I’ve already gotten a lot of use out of all three of these items. The jacket and the jeans were both worn to the New York Botanical Garden and apple picking. The leggings were perfect for traveling on my business trip to Texas last month, and have been worn several times a week since.

Overall, I really enjoyed the experience of Trensend, and would definitely utilize their service again. While I did like everything in my box, I did think that a few of the pieces were very overpriced for what they were. I like that it forced me to try pieces I wouldn’t have otherwise, and I mostly liked the fact that it was such a convenient way to shop.

Have you ever used Trendsend? Or StitchFix? What did you think? If you haven’t ever used a styling service, would you consider giving it a try?
