Shop Small Businesses
Our whole lives we have been big supporters of small businesses. Whether it was a farmers market, an online store, a restaurant or even an Etsy shop we have always loved giving them our support. Our dad started his business before we were even born, but we have watched it grow from the ground up. We have been exposed to every aspect of what it takes to run a small business. Ash and I always knew we wanted to start something of our own. That’s how The Sister Market was born.
Don’t get us wrong…we still shop at big stores! Target is our happy place, and pretty much all of our clothes come from Nordstrom! (Hello Nordstrom anniversary sale!) In addition though, we make it a priority to shop small. We like that we are directly supporting the hard work that is going into those businesses. Most of the time the owners are still the ones running the business on the day to day.
Primally Pure is our go to for clean & natural skincare. Their deodorant is the best clean one I have ever used! I’ve been converting everyone! We have also switched all of our cleaning supplies to Branch Basics, another women owned small business.
We still go to Starbucks, but we also go to lots of local coffee shops around the city. Hutch & Waldo, Stella & Fly, and Black Star Bakery are some of our absolute favorites! When you get to go in and talk to the owners and hear their story, you really get a feel for the place and it makes your experience ten times better! We also love going to the Farmers Market here in New York! Supporting those small farms are just as equally important.
This brings me to our small business, The Sister Market. This has been a part of our lives for over a year now, and it is our biggest accomplishment to date! We absolutely love curating product, that we use and love every day. The store is also full of things inspired by our travels all around the world. If you feel inclined, please do consider supporting our business. We promise it is just going to get bigger and better!
It’s all about balance. Support the big places, but please do shop local as well. that really helps to boost your local economy, and really everyone wins! 🙂
