What You Should Be Listening Too

Favorite Podcasts From 2017

Do you guys listen to podcasts? Shelby and I have two very different opinions on them. I love listening to all kinds of podcasts, but she doesn’t care for them in general. I feel like there has been a surge of great podcasts over the past year and there is something out there for everyone’s taste. I personally listen to a real varied mix. I love a good true crime story, news and politics podcasts, as well as celebrity interviews and gossip. The first podcast I ever listened to, like many of you I’m sure, was Serial. I remember sitting outside during lunch with my adult coloring book and a Starbucks cold brew coffee fascinated with what I was listening to. I enjoy listening to podcasts while I’m walking around the city, grocery shopping, packing for a trip, or at the gym. I know many people like to listen to them on long road trips, but as I’m rarely in a car, and if I am I’m usually with Shelby who won’t allow podcasts to be played, I don’t generally listen to them in the car but I understand the appeal. In no particular order, here are my favorite podcasts from 2017.

Anna Faris Is Unqualified – Anna Faris is obviously hilarious, and her podcast is no exception. I don’t listen to every episode, but if she has a guest on that I like I’ll listen. She has lots of her actor friends on as guests, but my favorite one recently was the one with Kelly Clarkson.

At Home With – This podcast, by two British bloggers and youtubers Lily and Anna, is a different concept where they interview women they admire in their homes. Their interviews are really interesting and it’s a fun easy listen.

How I Built This – I love learning about how other businesses got their start! The one with the guys from Instagram was fascinating and I also really enjoyed the one about Airbnb.

Off The Vine – Shelby and I are big fans of the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise and it seems that every single one of them has their own podcast now. The one I actually really like though is Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe. While she obviously has lots of Bachelor peeps on as guests, she makes it feel like you are all together sitting around chatting and drinking wine.

Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations – Who doesn’t love a good conversation with Oprah? I like to listen to this when I’m in need of a little inspiration. The episode with Shanda Rhimes is a can’t miss.

Pod Save America – Without getting into a political discussion, I am a big fan of this podcast which was started by 4 former aides to President Obama. In fact, they interviewed him for one of their episodes so be sure to check that out. In this podcast these four guys discuss their unfiltered opinions on the Trump presidency.

S-Town – If you like Serial, you’ll love S-Town. Mostly because it’s by the same producers as Serial. It’s a true crime investigation similar to Serial with unexpected twists and turns that make you want to listen to it all in one sitting. If you have a long road trip coming up for the holidays, this is the podcast you need to listen too!

The Daily – This podcast, by the New York Times, is a great way to get your daily headlines. Each episode is only about 20 minutes and is up every morning by 6am so you can listen on your way to work ensuring you are always up to speed on the latest news.

The High Low – This is quickly becoming my favorite podcast for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the host are British and I could listen to British people speak all day long. Secondly, the concept of this podcast is really cool. They discuss a high brow topic, like peace in the middle east, and then a low brow topic like Kim Kardashian’s new makeup line.

What What Happens Live – Andy Cohen’s popular Bravo show recently came out with a podcast. I love Andy (his books are great) and have always liked his show, but lets be honest I’m usually asleep when it airs every night. This podcast is literally the the show in podcast form, with a few behind the scenes moments before and after the show. Don’t miss it it you love the latest celeb gossip, particularly any of the Housewives franchises.

Ok, your turn. What podcasts do you love? Let’s get a list going in the comments so we can all share our favorite podcasts from 2017!
