I guess I’m No longer In My Mid Twenties…..
I can’t believe it has already been a year since I wrote 25 Thoughts On My 25th Birthday. It’s crazy how much can change in a year and how much you can grow. Over the past year we have made a lot of decisions and changes that have been both good and challenging. I wouldn’t trade any of it though. This past year has been absolutely incredible. I’ve traveled to 5 new countries and 3 new states! I’ve spent a ton of time with friends and family, and have worked incredibly hard to launch a new business (more on that later this week!). I have to say 25 was a fantastic year.
Age is just a number. I know that’s easier said than done, but it truly is. I use to put a lot of stock in age, but in reality everyone’s paths are so completely different and that is 100% okay. Just because by a certain age my friends are doing certain things, that doesn’t mean that that is the right path for me. It took a few years for me to understand that, but I am in such a good happy place in my life that I wouldn’t have it any other way.

One of the biggest things I have worked on over the past year is learning to let go of plans and thoughts of how I thought my life would be. If my life was how I thought it was going to be five years ago I would be so unhappy right now. The truth is, 5 years ago I never could have known what I wanted. I have changed so much and the world has changed so much. My current job didn’t even really exist 5 years ago. So high five to you 21 year old Shelby for coming up with plans, but an even bigger high five to 26 year old Shelby who has learned to be able to let them go and see where life takes her.
So, now that I am 26 I don’t necessarily feel older or wiser, but I do feel more sure of myself and even more ready to tackle everything my heart desires. 26, Let’s Do This!
